1. The meat of cows, intended for human consumption.
2. An argument or dispute:
there’s beef between the agriculture industry and the environmental activists (literally).
Beyond Meat
noun
A food company that develops and manufactures plant-based (mainly pea protein) substitutes for meat products. Ironically, Beyond Meat’s partners often serve its plant-based meat substitutes with animal-based food products like cheese.
biodiversity
noun
The diverse variety and variability of living beings on Earth, which is being rapidly lost (see: extinction) largely due to human-induced impact.
bycatch
noun
Non-target marine animals caught “unintentionally” (read: with no regard) by the fishing industry in the process of catching particular target species. Bycatch is estimated to be 40 percent of the world’s catch, with that of shrimp trawling as high as 95 percent (for every one pound of shrimp caught, twenty pounds of other marine animals are discarded.)
